Glen Sannox Path
One of the first projects to receive funding from the Arran Trust was Arran Access Trust's upgrading work to the final stretch of the Glen Sannox path which had fallen into disrepair. The path starts from the roadside in Sannox village and runs all the way through Glen Sannox over the pass known as the Saddle, into Glen Rosa and continues into Brodick.
Not only was the path very unpleasant to follow but real damage was being done to the fragile vegetation of the glen which sits within a National Scenic Area and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The path is popular with hill walkers and families wanting to enjoy the scenery and wildlife on offer on Arran. Malcolm Whitmore of he Access Trust says "We are hugely grateful to the Arran Trust for the injection of funds. Sensitive work was undertaken using gravel and stone won from the site to create an all weather path with side drains and cross drains thereby preventing further damage and erosion".
