ACTIVITY: After the loss of their polytunnel cover and damage to timber framing in Storm Eowyn Lochranza Community Growers wanted to reconstruct, by using timber, replacing the cover and constructing an additional windbreak. This would enable them to restart indoor growing of vegetables and herbs, and better protect our polytunnel from strong winds. The project involved construction by volunteers, benefitting them and the residents of Lochranza, visitors and Eco Savvy Zero Waste Cafe who take fresh produce with donations invited in return. It is also a social meeting place for locals and visitors including children and young people, especially on a Saturday afternoon and at fundraising events.
OUTCOME: The Arran Trust were delighted to prove £750 towards this project which is recognised as being of great value to the community in Lochranza. (Note - photo shows storm damage not the replacement)
