Activity

The Arran Team Knotweed Busters and Lamlash Improvements hope to eradicate Japanese Knotweed from Cordon to Clauchlands Point, Lamlash using the stem injection method which has proven to be more succesful than spraying. The group are very grateful to the Arran Trust for granting them the money which has enabled them to purchase the necessary equipment.

Outcome

By eradicating the Knotweed it will allow the natural bio-diversity ofthe island to return, encourage the growth of wild flowers by pollenation by bees who are now tending to Knotweed and Himalayan Balsam in the main.It will also help to clear land which will benefit housing on the Island and Golf Coursesand pathways  that are being over-run by knotweed
It is hoped to monitor the spread everywhereby educating people how to avoid the spread of all invasive species,
