ACTIVITY
Fisherman’s Walk boardwalk was damaged over the winter on two separate occasions, as the result of storm weather and high tides. After the second incident the footpath was unuseable. The primary reason for failure seems to be the piling was too short
Arran Access Trust had already begun to make the area safe, and remove damaged wood. This has been undertaken by the AAT/Geopark footpath team.
OUTCOME
The Arran Trust was able to support Arran Access Trust to rebuild the boardwalk, badly damaged by high Spring tides in 2019. The piling was increased and improved work was carried out on footbridges to enable access via this popular walkway to and from Cladach, Goat Fell, Brodick Castle and Arran Heritage Museum
