ACTIVITY
Shiskine Valley Improvements (SVI) maintain and upkeep Blackwaterfoot Playing Field which was kindly donated to the Community by the Robertson family. Over the years the main cost has been grass cutting which has become unsustainable. As a group the Improvements had been cutting the field themselves by borrowing equipment! This is not an ideal situation and it was felt to be beneficial to have their own mower so the grass can be cut when the conditions are favourable and not just when someone canlend equipment or squeeze it in.
They also had the opportunity to acquire a shed next to the field to store the grass cutter along with the brush cutters which are used for the maintenance of the Arran Coastal Way between Machrie and Blackwaterfoot. Thi area is also maintained by SVI.
OUTCOME
The funding offered was able to allow Shiskine Valley Improvements Committee to maintain the playing fields to the highest standards, cutting the grass when the weather is favourable, and offering wider amenity to the wider community .
It has also meant that all equipment is stored securely in a safe environment, meaning all equipment can be stored in one place, which is more accessible for the community volunteers at large.
