ACTIVITY
This project will help complete a key part of COAST’s marine interpretation project. This new hub for coastal and marine learning and recreation in Lamlash will provide a space for various community groups and visitors to come together for activities and events on and by the sea.
It will connect people with our unique marine environment through science, the arts and outdoor activity.
COAST is bringing back to life a derelict tennis pavilion and courts on Lamlash shore. This space will be transformed into a community-led marine learning and activity centre for residents and visitors to Arran, the Octopus Centre (now the Marine Interpretation Centre).
OUTCOME
Arran Trust was happy to support this development of a marine recreation shed which to be built on the grounds of COAST’s offices at the Old Pavilion, Lamlash. It will be placed upon existing foundations located at the back of the pavilion, and will be accessible to all.
A scientific underwater drone will be used in the waters around the Isle of Arran and snorkeling equipment will be available from the shed at the Old Pavilion and will be used in the waters around Arran by residents and visitors.
