Eco Savvy, Water Refills and an Arran Green Welcome

ACTIVITY
To convert a winning schools competition design, to a printed clear vinyl A5 window sticker, which shows where water bottles can be refilled. The stickers will be displayed around Arran by all participating businesses, local communities, public buildings and schools. They will be sited at water refilling sites within large premises and at entrances / windows where passing cyclists, pedestrians & traffic will see. They will also to be sited on Arran ferries.
The purpose of the project will be to:
• To reduce the single use plastic bottle.
• To improve sustainability on Arran.
• To encourage all Arran visitors and residents to carry a refillable water bottle.
• To extend a warm Green Arran welcome.

OUTCOME
The funding from the Arran Trust will mean that by displaying a window sticker businesses and communities will be extending a warm Green Arran welcome.
Arran schools will see positive results of their competition entries. Arran residents and visitors will benefit from not having to buy water and the community will benefit by a reduction in plastic litter -
• Single use plastic bottles will be reduced which will reduce plastic bottles ending up as beach and marine litter. Plastic disposed into landfill will be also be reduced
• Supports climate change and climate change awareness and the local environment will be improved
• Creating awareness of “free water available” reducing single use plastic purchase
• Working towards making Arran a greener and more sustainable island
