Mountain Leader Training

ACTIVITY
A’Chir Ridge is one of the most challenging ridges of its type in Scotland.  It is also the signature trail for Arran Mountain Festival, but getting leaders who are happy to take a group up is restrictive. The aim was to provide site-specific Mountain Instructor accreditation for between two and four local mountain leaders, to support the Arran Mountain Festival.

OUTCOME

With Arran Trust support, a Mountain Instructor came to Arran and accompanied the local Mountain Leaders on a traverse of A’chir Ridge in order to assess and accredit them. The MLs are now qualified to lead this particular technical mountain route without an accompanying Mountain Instructor during the Arran Mountain Festival.
