Arran Sports Association Floodlights

ACTIVITY

Some of the existing floodlights on the Astroturf are between 10-20 years old and many have failed over recent years.  The remaining bulbs now give the minimum acceptable level of light for use on the pitch.

The pitch is used on a weekly basis by Arran Junior Football Club, Arran Rugby Club, Arran Junior and Ladies Hockey Clubs, occasionally by Arran Youth Foundations. The Ladies Hockey Club compete in the West of Scotland Leagues for which weekly training sessions are essential.

OUTCOME

With Arran Trust support, LED bulbs were purchased, which are more environmentally friendly, reducing light pollution and electricity usage.  This has enabled several of the aforementioned groups to continue.
